About South Bayfront Artists
Mission
South Bayfront Artists is a group of local artists volunteering their time to advance the arts in the South Bay. The non-profit was started on the Chula Vista Bayfront in 2011 The collaborative includes a variety of artists whose talents include videography, photography, traditional oil, acrylics and watercolor, sculpture, woodwork, jewelry and textiles.
We are interested in encouraging the development of arts by providing locations for artists to market their own work, demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship and design and encouraging the best artistic skills and stimulating economic vitality by attracting visitors to the area. We are interested in mentoring young and emerging artists, offering a welcoming atmosphere for all levels.
Today
We provided a series of indoor and outdoor shows at Chula Vista Marina. Juried shows open to all South Bay artists. We sponsored workshops in art techniques, framing, Photoshop and marketing for our members. At our monthly meetings there were artist presentations. Our model changed with the pandemic and we ventured into online juried shows that were live-streamed. We look forward to rebuilding our website to showcase our artists and their work and as a platform for future online events.
Chula Vista, California and its South Bay is a very diverse place. Our artists and their art reflect the community, using a broad range of media to express themselves and to explore artistic avenues in innovative ways.
